Sunny Island 4548-US/6048-US inverters are central components in a typical off-grid system with photovoltaics. The battery inverter secures the energy supply at all times – whether in a remote home with no connection option, for a public electricity grid or even as part of a complete village electricity supply. Depending on local conditions, PV arrays, small wind turbines or even small-scale hydroelectric power plants generate electricity. The intelligent Sunny Island handles all energy management and control functions. If the PV system produces more electricity than is currently needed, the Sunny Island stores the excess energy in a temporary storage battery. Likewise, if more energy is needed than is currently being produced, energy needs are met using a battery. Diesel generators are primarily integrated in the stand-alone grid to cover energy demands in sub-optimal weather conditions. A Multicluster Box can also be integrated to facilitate modular expansion of the stand-alone grid if energy demands increase.
