Illinois, 1.7 MW DC and 1.25 MW AC
Pedigree Ovens
The solar array, developed by Simpleray and contracted by Althoff Industries, features a distinctive dog bone and paw print design. Using the SMA Sunny Highpower PEAK3 inverter, the 1.7 MW DC and 1.25 MW AC system generates about 2.044 GWh annually. This output meets the company’s full energy demand and offsets 1,456 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions each year.
The PEAK3 combines decentralized benefits with a centralized system design, improving efficiency and reducing energy losses while providing flexibility and control suited for large-scale systems like Pedigree’s and simplifying installation and maintenance for ground-mount applications.
The project received national recognition, winning Solar Builder Magazine’s 2020 Project of the Year award in the C&I ground-mount category. Key partners included HT-SAAE, which supplied the modules, and OMCO Solar, which provided the racking. The installation also received partial funding from Illinois’ Adjustable Block Program, which supports commercial and community solar development under the Future Energy Jobs Act.
