SMA America joins long-standing partner CEP to mark the opening of a U.S.-based integration facility in North Little Rock, Arkansas, supporting domestic delivery of SMA’s medium-voltage power station (MVPS) solutions.
The facility advances SMA’s strategy to strengthen local execution in one of the fastest-evolving energy markets. By integrating MVPS solutions in the United States, SMA and CEP reduce project timelines, simplify logistics and increase responsiveness to customer demand across utility-scale solar and storage.
“Domestic integration is a practical step toward meeting the pace and complexity of today’s energy projects,” said Florian Bechtold, executive vice president, large scale, SMA Solar Technology AG. “It shortens delivery timelines, strengthens supply chain resilience and keeps us closer to our customers.”
SMA manufactures the inverters in the company headquarter in Niestetal, Germany and then and ships them to CEP’s Arkansas facility, where they are integrated with an American-made medium-voltage transformer into a fully assembled, skidded solution. The systems undergo final testing on site before delivery.
SMA and CEP have collaborated for nearly two decades, with CEP serving as a partner for MVPS integration and logistics. The new facility expands that relationship with dedicated U.S. capacity to support growing demand for domestic integration.
“CEP is proud to deepen our partnership with SMA as we bring MVPS integration to the United States,” said Mario Melodia, chief executive officer at CEP. “This investment positions us to support faster delivery, provide local expertise, and meet the growing demands of utility-scale projects across the country.”
Initial integration began earlier this year, with the first major customer project scheduled for delivery in early to mid-2026. U.S.-based capacity continues to ramp, increasing availability of domestically integrated solutions.
The MVPS combines a central inverter, transformer and switchgear in a standardized 20-foot skidtainer designed for utility-scale solar and storage applications. U.S.-based integration supports faster project execution while maintaining SMA’s engineering and quality standards.
The opening reflects SMA’s global-to-local approach, combining German engineering expertise with localized manufacturing and integration capabilities in key markets.
About SMA
As a leading global specialist in photovoltaic and storage system technology, the SMA Group is setting the standards today for the decentralized and renewable energy supply of tomorrow. SMA’s portfolio contains a wide range of efficient PV and battery inverters, holistic system solutions for PV and battery-storage systems of all power classes, intelligent energy management systems and charging solutions for electric vehicles and power-to-gas applications. Digital energy services as well as extensive services round off SMA’s range. The SMA PV inverters sold around the world since 2006, with a total output of approximately 156 GW, have helped to avoid greenhouse gas emissions of more than 69 million metric tons of CO2e. This corresponds to avoided environmental costs of approximately €21 billion. SMA’s multi-award-winning technology is protected by more than 1,600 patents and utility models. Since 2008, the Group’s parent company, SMA Solar Technology AG, has been listed on the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (S92) and is listed on the SDAX and TecDAX indices.
