REPOWERING
As solar projects mature, it becomes inevitable that older PV power plants and their inverters will need replacement and upgrades to continue to achieve maximum efficiency. The PEAK3 FLEX is designed to repower both smaller string inverters and larger central inverters. The PEAK3 FLEX supports multiple use cases, including:
Asset owners managing a fleet of projects with varying DC and AC voltages
O&M providers seeking to retain transformers and AC balance-of-system components to avoid costly system restudies
Developers upgrading older systems from 600 VDC or 1000 VDC to 1500 VDC
NEW PV PROJECTS
As PV continues to saturate select markets, incentive programs and utilities are imposing strict AC nameplate limits. With a field-configurable UL Label, the PEAK3 FLEX offers the ability to customize the inverter’s AC power nameplate to meet project requirements. Already CEC-listed at numerous AC voltages, the PEAK3 FLEX is an excellent choice for new and existing PV projects.
For existing projects with either 480 VAC or 600 VAC tie-ins, the 125 kW and 150 kW power classes of the PEAK3 are equivalent to the PEAK3 FLEX and output current can be adjusted as needed from 0-151A. The reason to use the PEAK3 FLEX in these cases is if a specific nameplate power rating is required on the label.

Installation and Commissioning
Due to the high-power density of the PEAK3 FLEX, replacing inverters in tight footprints is often achievable. With the ability to install the same way as the PEAK3, the steps to properly commission the PEAK3 FLEX are slightly different with its adjustable voltage and current outputs.
Ensure that the correct parameter‑set documentation is obtained from the SMA Application Engineering Team in advance to support successful commissioning of the PEAK3 FLEX.
