Activate your SMA extended warranty

Thank you for choosing an SMA extended warranty. You can quickly and easily activate your extended warranty here.
All we require is your personal activation code that you will find on your warranty card.

Note: Please activate your extended warranty as soon as possible, but latest one month after purchasing the card. Please also consider that the inverter must still be under the manufacturer´s warranty in order to active the extended warranty.

Here's how it works:

  • Step 1: enter your personal information.
  • Step 2: provide the information on the SMA inverters for which the warranty is to be extended including your personal activation code that you received.
    Please note: The inverter serial number can be found on the type label. It is generally located on the right side of the device.
  • Step 3: please accept the warranty terms and conditions of use as well as the General Terms and Conditions and the data protection regulations.

Following activation of your extended warranty and validation by SMA, you can expect to receive your warranty certificate within 2-4 working days via e-mail. The extended warranty is valid once you receive the certificate.

When is your extended warranty valid?

Your extended warranty is valid following receipt of your warranty certificate.

When is the latest I can activate my extended warranty?

Please activate your extended warranty as soon as possible, but no later than one month after receiving your warranty card. Keep in mind that the inverter to be activated must still be within the manufacturer's warranty.

Where can I find my activation code?

Your personal activation code is on the warranty card that you received.

Where can I find the serial number of my inverter?

The inverter serial number is on the type label. It is generally located on the right side of the device.

Who can I contact if I have difficulties with the activation or if the activation does not work?

If the activation process of the extended warranty fails or does not work for any reason, please try it again at a later time. If the activation still does not work, please contact us directly via E-Mail (Warranty@SMA.de).

I have note yet received my warranty certificate via e-mail although I activated the extended warranty.

SMA generally sends the warranty certificate within 2-4 working days. If you have not received your certificate within this time period, please look in your junk mail folder. If there is no e-mail there, please contact us directly via E-Mail (Warranty@SMA.de).

Who can I contact if a warranty case actually occurs?

In the rare event that your inverter does not function as intended, please contact your installer. The SMA Service Line are also available to provide technical support. Please call  number +49 561 9522-1499.

I have lost my warranty card. Can I get a replacement?

The warranty card is equal to the present value of the extended warranty you acquired. For this reason, SMA cannot replace the card if it is lost. You should always report a lost card to SMA to prevent the card from being misused.

Where can I find the invoice date and what do I do if I can no longer find the invoice?

The invoice date is on the invoice that your installer issued you for the inverter. If you can no longer find the invoice, please contact your installer. He may be able to issue you a copy of the invoice. If this is not possible, please contact SMA directly.

Can I extend the warranty again?

If you already have a valid extended warranty, you can extend it again within the first ten years. The extended warranty is valid from the purchase date of the inverter by the plant operator.

What happens to the warranty if I receive a replacement device for a warranty case?

If a device is replaced within the warranty period, the remaining warranty period carries over to the replacement device. In this case, you will not receive a new warranty certificate. The residual term of entitlement will be documented at SMA.

What happens if I do not activate my warranty card?

Unfortunately, SMA cannot accept any warranty claims if you have not activated your warranty card and have received a valid warranty certificate.
